Creative Process

"A plan is a place to depart from."
This bit of wisdom from letterpress printer extraordinaire, Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr succinctly encapsulates my approach to making. I have many areas of intellectual curiosity that point to starting places, but visual details, and my understanding how or what any one piece might be communicating arises as the work unfolds.  My concepts continue to mature and evolve as I make; I embrace the conversation between intuition and intellect.  I like that content forms at the intersection of concept, process, material, systems and form, and ultimately depends on a viewer's interpretation.  All work is part of an unfinished story; threads from singular or multiple components weave their way throughout.  Links to individual works and series have been grouped here loosely organized along some of those threads, somewhat defiant of chronology.
