Wax Books

Pool

This book uses an historic structure called a pugilarres. Roman businessmen would use wax-coated boards to inscribe account records. The pages would be heated and re-smoothed for a following day's work.  I responded to the ephemeral nature of such recorded information; an antecedent to the transient communications of our own contemporary digital records.

Passage

Similar to Pool, above, Passage utilizes a hinged board structure, coated with wax.  The interior carries a sensual juxtaposition of wax beads, gold leaf and a decorative wallpaper pattern.
